Using armour as a design source, together with the likeness found in art deco designs is the ongoing drive in Mary’s design work. The use of knitted wool, appliqué and embroidered before felting in the washing machine has been the focal point of her recent work. The tactile quality of the “goodies” produced is the most inspiring, giving her the encouragement to develop ideas into usable art. The cushions and bags have been a starting point and the development of this technique will be the future objective.
