Our SchoolLiss Junior has eight classes. The classes are vertically grouped giving four classes of years 3 and 4 in the lower school and four classes of years 5 and 6 in the upper school. The school benefits from a modern light airy building, designed to both complement and take advantage of its hillside setting. All nine classrooms are accessed from the central concourse which runs the up length of the building on the ground floor. As the school is built on a slope the concourse climbs 2.3 metres from the front door to the back door. Classrooms are on the left handside of the concourse when viewed from the front entrance whilst on the right handside we have a hall , drama room, library, two tutorial rooms, a cookery area, toilets, changing rooms and a kiln room. The staffroom and headteacher's office are both located on the first floor. The school grounds have seen several major developments in recent years. A pond was constructed in 2000 and in 2002 an adventure trail, willow dome and amphitheatre were all opened. In 2008 The Learning Centre was opened providing support for up to ten pupils with moderate learning difficulties. The school serves the families of Liss, Liss Forest and Hawkley. There are buses which bring the children from Hawley and Liss Forest and currently a taxi service from Petersfield. Most pupils move up from Liss Infant School, which is on the adjoining site, at the end of Year 2. At the end of the four years with us the majority of pupils transfer to Bohunt School. | |
