Our pond was constructed in 2000 by TwoJs. It took less than a week to construct and about one year to look naturalised. The children have had a lot of fun dipping for minibeasts in the early summer.
The school has a trained pond warden who organises working parties to help with the annual maintenance.
Living Willow Dome and Tunnels
In the spring of 2002 the school was visited by Ganesh Bruce and Geoff King. They led a whole week of activities based around willow. During the week the children helped to build a willow dome and tunnel. Every child in the school also had the opportunity to make a bird feeder or vase holder out of willow. Many children and parents learned new skills during the week.
Ganesh may be contacted at: ganesh_bruce@hotmail.com
As part of the willow week activities we also planted an Osier bed. Pieces of willow no more than 15cm long were pushed into the ground in February by September they had grown considerably as you can see from the photograph. We plan to harvest willow annualy and incorporate some of the willow weaving activities into our curriculum.
Amphitheatre
In September 2002 construction of an Amphitheatre, in the school grounds, was completed. The amphitheatre provides additional space at playtimes particularly for those children who wish to pursue quieter activities away from the hub-bub of the main playground.
The amphitheatre was built by Carney Landscapes.

Play Trail
In the spring of 2002 our playtrail was finally installed. Construction of the playtrail had been delayed from the previous autumn because of the exceptional rainfall we had all experienced. The playtrail was funded by our PTA. The equipment was installed by Sovereign. Email:
Blockhead Sculptures
We had Mo Gardner in our school for a week. She showed us how to create heads from concrete blocks. During the week everyone had a go using her sculpting tools. At the end of the week we had made enough heads to decorate the front wall of the school and to build a tower of heads for the school grounds.
