t_aishka.jpgI have been asked to try out this new and innovative site called surfyourown.com and decided to base this page on text rather than the pictures that make up my home page. Personally, I think it would be useful to be able to change the size of this font. I have raised this as a "bug log" and it is now being considered. So, what should I write about? I thought about this and decided I would write a little a bit about the creator of this page, me, Amanda Jane Collins. Born on 30 November 1964 in the married quarters of RAF Swanton Morley, Norfolk. Much to my distaste, according to my Dad, this made me a Norfolk dumpling! Fortunately, I don't actually resemble a dumpling of any origin. If you are familiar with astrology, you will have worked out that this birth date makes me a Sagittarian, sign of the Archer. This supposedly makes me very intellectual and sophisticated, with a dark side of being irresponsible and superficial amongst other equally unpleasant traits. Anyway, enough about astrology before I start sounding like some kind of new age hippy type person. :-) My family was quite a large one, I am the only daughter in a family of four children. I am neither the eldest, nor the youngest which psychologists would probably claim has had deep and meaningful implications on the way I have led my life. A lot of people seem to assume it would have given me a childhood of constant spoiling/adoration! I would definitely have to disagree. If anything, the opposite is probably true! For the record, here is a list of a few of the things that I learned through being an only girl; ..how to fight, ..how to play a silly little game which involves flicking plastic footballers around a pitch with the aim of scoring goals, ..the rules of cricket, ..how to bowl out boys in cricket using the underarm technique and a tennis ball, ..the complete rules of snooker, ..how to look cute when losing ...finally how to take advantage of them thinking you are "only a cute girlie" during any one of the above games by subsequently beating them at it!
